Order Hcg
This is my first pregnancy and I started having spottting and my dr ordered 2 blood tests and my HCG dropped from 3000 and something to 1000 and something. Will I inevitably miscarry my baby?

Don’t go thinking that, just do as he says and it will be fine.

I’m sorry. I guess it is possible that the test was mixed up with someone else’s, but otherwise it is inevitable. Didn’t your doctor explain this to you?

Sorry to say, but it seems likely. I don’t know if it ALWAYS is the case but a dramatic drop usually isn’t good news.

I’m no expert and I don’t want to scare you but that’s what happened to me with my second pregnancy. I had already miscarried with the bleeding that’s why my hormone level dropped so much. I hope to god it hasn’t happened to you and it’s just one of these things. I wish you lots of luck, DD x

most of the time your hcg level does drop

Usually this means there will be a miscarriage. I’m very sorry.

It is normal for hcg to drop after 12 weeks or so when things level off but from the numbers you are giving I don’t think you are even close to that yet. Again, I’m sorry you have to go through that.

I am not God and do not know the future for you but I’m sorry to say it does sound like a mc. I had one on Oct. 19th. I started spotting and went to the ER. They tested my HCG levels and the next day they retested them and they had dropped. I ended up mc that same day. HCG levels are always supposed to go up in the beginning of pregnancy and then they eventually level off when the placenta takes over. They are not supposed to drop. I am pretty sure that the HCG levels dropping means that you will mc indefinately. I am so sorry!

I’m so sorry! Normally your HCG doubles every two days for the first couple of weeks… I only know this because I have undergone 3 IVF cycles and they do blood tests every other day to make sure they are going up. I don’t know if in EVERY instance it means miscarriage, but that drop is a pretty big one. Hopefully everything will be o.k. If it helps with my first two pregnancies I spotted (even bled heavily with my twins) for the first 4 months, but went on to have healthy babies! I would be most concerned with the dropping HCG then the spotting!
